Yellow buttons indicate a required action or an option. The Play button is yellow as you have not yet listened to this draft, and the Cancel button is yellow as it is an option. If you hit Cancel, it will bring you back to the Set List page (as seen in this article).

The main decision in consultant check is deciding to pass a set or suggest a revision on one or more passages. If you Pass a set, it will no longer go back to the team for revisions and is checked off on your Set List page. If you record a note and click Suggest Revision, your notes will be sent back to the team for review and there will be a blue dot next to that set.

As the consultant, you have a lot of flexibility within Render as to how you would like to come to the conclusion of passing a set or recording a note. We’ll go through a step-by step process here, but feel free to use a different order of steps as you see fit.

To begin your consultant check:

1. Press the yellow Play buttons to listen to all new back translations and any new notes. The Pass button will now be active.

2. Listen to reference audio and look at transcriptions as needed to review the set.

Note: If at any time you want to leave this page, click the Cancel button.

3. Decide if you would like to:

    • Pass the set as it does not need any changes.

    • Suggest a Revision on one or more passages by recording a note.

If you pass the set, it will be checked off on your Set List page and will not go back to the team for changes. Remember, you have the entire set on this page, so by clicking Pass, you are passing the entire set. You cannot pass a passage within this set. You are either passing the entire set, or recording a note on one or more passages. If there is a passage in this set that does not need to be changed, simply do not record a note on that passage.

If you want to suggest a revision on one or more passages, follow the steps below:

To record a note:

1. Select a passage in the top left player by clicking on the waveform (6). The passage will turn bright blue and the name of the passage will show up on the recorder below (9).

Note: Make sure that your note corresponds to the correct passage.

2. Press the dark blue Record button (9a) and speak your note into your microphone.

3. Press Stop. You will now have a note in the recorder and it will look something like this:

This note is attached to “Passage 2,” indicated by the selected waveform above and the title on the recorder below. You will also notice a small headphones icon above the passage. This headphone icon on the player indicates that there is a note attached to this passage.

To continue your consultant check:

5. As needed, record more notes on this passage using any combination of the following:

a. Add to your note at the end by clicking the blue Plus (append) button (9a). Push Stop. You will now have multiple sections (appends) in your recorder separated by gray lines.

b. Add a note in a place other than the end.

i. Select the note that you would like to be after your new note. It will turn bright blue.

ii. Press the Append button (9a) and record your note.

iii. Press Stop. A new note will be added just before your selected note.

c. Listen to your note by clicking the Play button (9b). If you want to listen to a different piece, select that part of your note by clicking on the waveform. It will turn bright blue. When you press Play, it will play your selected note. You can also listen anywhere in the recorder by using the white arrow to scrub.

    d. Delete a note append.

i. Select the piece of your note that you want to delete by pressing on the waveform.

ii. Press the play button to listen to your note to make sure it is the note you want to delete.

iii. Press the delete button (9c).

    e. Move a note append.

i. Select the piece of your note that you would like to move by clicking on the waveform.

ii. Your selected note will have white arrows on it pointing right and left. Press the white arrow pointing in the direction you would like to move the note.

iii. Continue pressing the white arrows until your note is in the spot you would like it to be.

With more than one note append, your page will look something like this:

To continue your consultant check:

6. If there are more passages in this set that need revising, follow the steps above to record more notes for the translation team.

7. Once all passages have been addressed and all necessary notes have been recorded on this set, click Suggest Revision.

This set has now been sent back to the translation team. Once they have listened to your note(s), they will respond and if applicable, make changes to their translation. This process will continue until you have passed the set.
