You will notice during the configuration of a project that the Section Assignment icon in the Project Configuration page is greyed out and unavailable. It becomes active (dark blue) only after completing all previous steps from left to right - Configure Workflow, Manage Users, and Assign Roles.
The project scope of work (or just scope) is determined by collaboration between FCBH, the translation partner organization, and the people group for whom the project has been created. This scope is normally one book of the Bible.
That scope is then divided into sections and passages which form cohesive, reasonably-sized units of work. For example, Luke 15 is regarded as a single section because all of that chapter is Jesus telling 3 related stories in a single setting. Further dividing Luke 15 into three passages - one for each of the 3 stories - makes the unit of work (the passage) both cohesive and practical.
This scope breakdown was added to the project when the FCBH Project Coordinator created the project. The Config person of the project will assign the sections to the two (or more) translation teams based on the decisions made by the translation team and their Consultant.
The first three to five sections to be assigned will be determined by the OBT Trainer during the Project Launching Workshop when all of the project participants come together and learn the OBT process and their respective roles. The OBT Trainer will also assist the team and the consultant with deciding how to assign the remaining sections to the two translation teams.
Follow the Section Assignment Steps article to assign the sections to the translation teams.
