Passage: the smallest translatable unit; level of translation
Set: a group of thematically related passages that give context
Here on the Consultant Review page, you are looking at one set, which you selected on the previous page. Press play on the set title on the upper right hand corner of the page for a reminder of the set currently being checked.
The dropdown of sets on the upper left has various drafts, each a different iteration of the same set. When you select a draft, it will load that entire draft of the set in the Selectable Set player (see below). This set could be made up of one passage, or it could be made up of many passages. No matter the number of passages, the whole set is loaded into this player.
In the case that there is more than one passage in the set, each passage will be a separate section in the player, separated by thin gray vertical lines. You can also see the different passages by selecting a passage. To see the separate passages in this player, move the scroll bar or scrub the waveform with the white arrow. If you don’t see any gray vertical lines in the Selectable Set player, you have a single passage set—meaning that there is only one passage in this set.
This player is selectable, meaning that you can touch the waveform and it will highlight that passage in bright blue. When you are scrolling through the set, you can select one passage at a time. The beginning and end of the passage will be indicated by the selected blue inside of the gray vertical lines:
It is very important to be aware of the passage that is selected in this player while you are doing your consultant checking. Remember that the translation team records at the passage level, so they will also revise and re-record at the same passage level. Therefore, each note, suggestion, or question for the team that is recorded in the recorder below will be attached to the selected passage in the player above. It is critical that your notes are tied to the correct passage so the translation team can revise the corresponding passage.
