Community Test is used by a translation team to get feedback from people that are not actively engaged in the translation project, but who are native speakers of the language. This stage offers two optional steps: Passage Retell and Response Record, which are both turned on by default.
You can choose to include both steps or to only use one in your Workflow Configuration settings. If you prefer not to use either, do not include a Community Test stage in your workflow.
Select the Community Test icon from the Project Home page:

Community Test: Passage Retell

Translation teams can play their recorded draft of the Section (1) and the current Passage (2) before recording the community’s retelling of the current Passage (7).
- Section audio: plays the recorded draft of the Section
- Passage audio: plays the recorded draft of the Passage
- Section & Passage Numbering: indicates the Section you are working on and lists the current Passage number below it.
- Home: tapping this brings you to the Project Home page
- Menu: Home page, Section Status, Export Audio, Project List, Sync, and Log Out
- Trash can: select to delete the recorded passage retell audio. Can also be tapped to recover audio that was recently deleted using the Trash Can.
- Record/Stop: tap this to record the audio of the Passage Retelling. Tap a second time to stop the recording.
- Append: select this button to reactivate the Record button. This allows you to continue recording audio for the Passage Retelling without losing the audio that has already been recorded.
- Next: proceeds to the next screen.
Community Test: Response Record

- Section audio: plays the recorded draft of the Section
- Passage audio: plays the recorded draft of the current Passage
- Audio clip: plays a small portion of the passage audio. It will either play the audio from the beginning of the passage to the first Flag (see article on Community Setup to understand Flag (or question marker) placement), or from the previous to the current Flag.
- Question audio: plays the recorded question. In this example, “Question 1 of 3” indicates the current passage has three recorded questions. Each question has its own page for recording.
- Trash can: select to delete the recorded response to the question. Tap a second time to recover a deleted response.
- Record/Stop: Tap to record the response of the community to the question. Tap a second time to stop the recording.
- Append: Tap this button to reactivate the Record button at the END of the current recording. This allows you to continue recording a response to the question without losing the audio that has already been recorded. The new recording will be appended to the previous.
- Next/Finish: selecting this will bring you to the next passage. If there are no remaining passages, then the step is finished, and Render will return you to the Project Home page.
Translation teams can play their draft of the Section (1) and the current Passage (2) if needed. Follow these steps for recording community member responses to questions:
- First play the Audio Clip (3). This is the Passage Draft audio up to the location of the current flag. Then,
- Play the previously-recorded question (4) and again if requested by the community members. When the community member(s) are ready to respond,
- Tap the record button (6) to record the community’s response to the question.
- Repeat for each question. You will notice that the Audio Clip will change when Render moves from one Flag of questions to the next. When it does, the play button for Audio Clip will turn yellow again. Make sure to play the new Audio Clip before playing the next question.
